V Events Cares

Like it is given to you, give to others. As Biblically stated, to whom much is given, much is required. There are needs in the population that are being met every day by various community based organizations. From organizations that feed the homeless to those that support education initiatives, the impact is immeasurable. V Events vows to partner with these community based organizations by providing free event management hours. Whether as a volunteer or a sponsor, V Events uses event planning as a format to change lives.

On November 7, 2008, Vonna Lary had the privilege of representing V Events as a volunteer for the Dallas Rocks Benefit dinner hosted by Russell Simmons and Emmitt and Pat Smith. Dallas Rocks was the first major fundraiser for the Diamond Empowerment Fund. Founded in 2007 by Russell Simmons and members of the diamond and jewelry industries, the Diamond Empowerment Fund (D.E.F.) aims to raise funds for education initiatives in African nations where diamonds are a natural resource. As an international organization, D.E.F. partners with African organizations to empower economically disadvantaged individuals in Africa through self-determination and hard work. Dallas Rocks was able to raise over $320,000 for the mission of D.E.F. The event honored Earvin “Magic” Johnson for his humanitarian endeavors to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS. Suzanne Sena of Fox News, served as the Mistress of Ceremonies for the evening.

October 5, 2008 marked another successful LifeWalk for AIDS Arms, an annual family and pet friendly event that raises funds for HIV/AIDS awareness. V Events served as one of the Life Supporter sponsors for this event. As a sponsor, V Events assisted AIDS Arms in acquiring vendors and sponsors for LifeBark, as well as helped to coordinate efforts for its kick-off event, the 1st Annual “Canine Cool Drool.” AIDS Arms, Inc. assists individuals in acquiring the health care, resources and support they need to manage the everyday challenges of living with HIV/AIDS. Their efforts have helped to raise millions of dollars and provide education to help stop this pervasive disease.

Tradition Combined with Personal Taste

From the first dance to the cake cutting, weddings are defined by the traditions they honor. Whether you attend a wedding in Dallas, Texas or New York, New York certain customs will be recognizable. According to industry experts wedding traditions share common symbols of unity that are illustrated by love, happiness and prosperity.

Although traditions are valuable in nature they work best when coupled with modern trends and concepts that characterize the personalities of the bride and groom. In organizing your wedding day conceptualize your vision by intertwining customs with personal taste. If your favorite song is “Kung Fu Fighting” from the “Kung Fu Panda” soundtrack, then make that your first dance song. Who says that your first dance has to be slow and romantic? A few of V Events clients have even opted not to have the father/daughter or mother/son dance, because they wanted to spend more time dancing and mingling with guests.

If you are not a big cake person, serve cupcakes or cookies instead. Your monogram can be placed on the cookies or the cupcakes can highlight a variety of your favorite dessert flavors.

Traditions can also be broken when it comes to the star of the affair (next to the bride), the wedding dress. Conventionally brides wear white wedding dresses to symbolize purity. Wearing white dates back to Victorian times when Queen Victoria abandoned the tradition of wearing a silver gown to wear a white gown instead. In recent years it has become customary to choose shades of ivory, cream, and in some cases beige. Some brides have chosen to completely discard ritual to wear red and royal blue. It is your day. Wear the color that best suits your vision, in good taste of course.

Whatever the tradition, it should not take precedence over your individual taste. Traditions exist to honor family, culture and religion. Their purpose is to highlight specific aspects of your love as a couple. Contact V Events for explicit ways to honor tradition while emphasizing your individuality.
